Overview & Objectives

This 4 hour advanced training explores the complex dynamics of transference and countertransference as they manifest across therapeutic, supervisory, and organizational relationships. Grounded in psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed care, and the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, this course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of how relational patterns—conscious and unconscious—impact clinical outcomes, ethical decision-making, and professional dynamics.

This training incorporates the AIP theory to illuminate how early maladaptive experiences become activated in professional relationships, offering pathways for resolution through trauma-informed, relationally attuned work.

  • Identify & Differentiate 3 types of transference/countertransference

  • Analyze ethical responsibilities associated with recognizing & Managing Transference & Countertransference

  • Apply Relational Insights to Organizational Dynamics using transference theory

  • Demonstrate therapeutic and supervisory interventions for working through transference related ruptures

  • Apply the AIP Theory to Transference and Countertransference
