Module 1 is a prerequisite to register for Module 2: Integrating IFS into EMDR Therapy: A Practical Approach
Amanda is a Level One Trained Internal Family Systems Therapist as well as an EMDR Child Specialist and EMDR Sand Tray Specialist. She discovered that IFS and Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) theories were her ideal combination to unlock a deeper understanding and acceptance of herself and for others.
Amanda obtained her Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2003 from the University of Denver, and double majored in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Iowa. Through education and life experiences, Amanda maintains proficiency in Spanish. Amanda works to be an ally and support for marginalized populations and monolingual and bilingual Spanish-speaking clients to connect to and benefit from mental health services.
Through the IFS lens, Amanda is able to witness the scope of the world system and access compassion and curiosity to work with a diverse population. And it is with this lens that Amanda is able to sit with trauma and pain represented across a broad range of humans.
Amanda has a background in working in non-profit mental health and substance abuse agency settings, and school settings, and has provided EAP services and management consultations, as well as CISDs to various employment settings.
Amanda co-owns Integrated Community Therapists, LLC in Iowa City, IA with three other amazing women and therapists. Amanda’s other passions include Jazzercise, drinking coffee, eating yummy food, floating on a lake or ocean, and spending time with family and friends. She lives in Iowa City, IA with her family, her dog, Nala, and her cat, Hush.
