The course integrates evidence-based practices, including the low-intensity flash technique and the flashforward procedure, to enhance trauma-informed care. Participants will also gain competencies in conducting tailored assessments and critically evaluating the specialized treatment approaches necessary for these populations. Ms. Russell launched her private practice, Front Line Therapy in West Des Moines, IA, in 2019. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training with expertise in EMDR and trauma treatment of simple and complex PTSD focusing specifically on First Responders, Military Personnel, Domestic Violence, and Gambling and Substance Use Disorders, completing specialty training in these presenting issues.
Currently, Ms. Russell is active with the West Des Moines Police Department Peer Support Team, the Des Moines Police Department Peer Support Resources Committee and an ambassador with the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Yoga for First Responders. She provide presentations and psycho-education in the community and have presented in several speaking engagements at the Iowa First Responders Peer Support Conference, Polk City Police Department, Des Moines Moms, The Public Health Conference of Iowa, and the Des Moines Metro Law Enforcement and Spouse Support Group.
