This program is brought to you through a collaborative effort between MOSAIC Family Counseling Center Inc., & EMDR & Beyond.
This six‑hour continuing education course is designed for licensed mental health professionals in Iowa who seek to become qualified supervisors under Iowa administrative rule. The training provides a comprehensive overview of supervisory roles and responsibilities, key legal and ethical frameworks, evidence‑informed supervision practices, documentation and supervision planning, and strategies for effective developmental support of supervisees. Upon completion, participants will be equipped to design and implement supervision plans in accordance with Iowa’s licensure requirements, support supervisees toward independent licensure, and safeguard ethical and regulatory compliance.
By the end of this course, participants will meet requirements for listing with the State of Iowa as an approved Clinical Supervisor
Explain the regulatory requirements for supervisors in Iowa, including eligibility criteria (active independent license, minimum three years of clinical experience) and the six‑hour supervision training requirement.
Design a written supervision plan that meets Iowa requirements — specifying mode and frequency of supervision, goals and objectives, supervisee and supervisor information, documented methodology, and tracking mechanisms.
Apply ethical and legal standards pertinent to supervision and independent licensure in Iowa, including the supervisee’s scope of competence, confidentiality, and professional boundaries in supervision.
Utilize evidence‑based supervision models and techniques, including developmental, integrative, and reflective models, to adapt to supervisee needs and promote professional growth.
Implement effective evaluation and feedback strategies for supervisees, including setting learning goals, monitoring progress toward independent practice, and documenting supervision outcomes.
Address supervisee risk management and agency/organizational concerns, including identifying impairments, ethical breaches, documentation oversight, and transitions toward independent practice/licensure readiness.

EMDR & Beyond is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. EMDR & Beyond remains fully responsible for the program and its content.
EMDR & Beyond is an EMDRIA-approved EC Provider (#15007). This program (#15007-106) is approved for 6 EMDRIA Credits. Eligibility for EMDRIA credits is limited to participants who have completed an EMDRIA-approved Basic EMDR Training.
To receive CE or EMDRIA credit for in-person presentations or live virtual attendance, participants must attend the entire program in real time. Partial credit is not available, and watching a recording in place of attending live does not qualify for credit.
